Review : WARNING: May not install in Windows 8
Based on 30+ years of computer skills & 20+ years of using Intuit softwares, I was VERY disappointed when TurboTax 2012 refused to install on my new (3 week old) Windows 8 desktop that has been running fast & smooth. I communicated with an Intuit VP who advised me of a problem with .NET 3.5 & 4.0/4.5 that he blamed on Microsoft. Upon further investigation, I found out that Intuit has been aware of .Net issues for some time, which is why they include a folder full of special tools to try and help end users fix the .Net problems if/when they arise on your computer.
The Intuit VP advised me to uninstall .NET 3.5 and when I did, it caused a long list of problems for my computer, which then forced me to wipe my entire hard drive, reinstall Windows 8 and everything else. I also learned that many popular softwares, including Intuit's own Quicken use and insist on installing .Net 3.5 software.
